"Jika murid sudah siap, guru akan muncul dengan sendirinya."
"I learnt silence from the talkative,
Tolerance from the intolerant,
Kindness from the unkind,
And yet strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers."
(Khalil Gibran.)
How can I find a guru?
(Jaggi vasudev)
A guru is not the one who is blessing you, not offer you solace. whoever offer you solace is a pleasant human being, a good person or a saint, but not a guru. A guru is not pleasant, because, it's not his intentions to please you, his intention is to awaken you! Not to put you to sleep.
A guru is somebody who disturbs the fundamental aspects in you.
He disturbs everything in you. He does not allow you to sleep. He is not a solace paddler. He is somebody to assists you to your liberation.
You look for a guru only if you want to awaken yourself. When you are willing to transform yourself. When you want to drop your limitations and go to higher stages in life. If such longing is not yet there, then don't bother about gurus. You'd better entertain yourself, go to a cinema, have a good dinner, have a walk on the beach, those will help.
How do I recognize my guru? You don't have to look for him. You just deepen your longing in you. When you know the pain, when you know the true pain of not knowing, when you know the pain of ignorance, then a guru will emerged. You don't have to look.
Even when I see him, how do I recognize him? You sit with him. Everything in you should feel threatened. You want to run away. But there's something in you which keep pulling you toward him. You don't want to be there, but there's something in you keep drawing you in his direction. That is your guru.
If you don't feel threatened by him, if you feel very comfortable with him, then he is not your guru. Maybe he is your friend. Maybe he is just a good man. But he is not your guru.
Because if you choose, you will choose what you like. Yes, if you may choose, you will only choose what you like. What is it that you like? It is your EGO. Anybody who support your ego is your friend, not your guru.
"Whosoever may torment you,
Harass you,
Confound you, or upset you,
is a teacher,
not because they are wise,
But because you seek to become so."
